The Republic of Korea operates a range of multilingual medical interpretation and counseling services to improve healthcare accessibility for foreign patients.

The Medical Korea Information Center (1577-7129), operated by the Korea Health Industry Development Institute under the Ministry of Health and Welfare, provides medical consultation services for foreign patients at Seoul Station and Incheon International Airport Terminal 1. Services are available in English, Chinese, Japanese, and Russian, and include information on medical institutions, assistance with appointment scheduling, counseling on medical disputes and grievances, and reporting of illegal brokers. In addition, the Korea Foundation for International Healthcare offers healthcare assistance programs for foreign workers residing in Korea, including free mobile medical services, health information provision, vaccine support, and training programs for project personnel.

Telephone consultation services are also available. The Ministry of Justice’s Immigration Contact Center (1345) provides civil complaint counseling and administrative information related to residence and daily life in Korea in more than 20 languages, including English, Chinese, and Vietnamese. The 1330 Korea Travel Hotline, operated by the Korea Tourism Organization, primarily offers tourism information and also provides multilingual assistance, including guidance on medical institutions in emergency situations. The 1330 service is available in eight languages—Korean, English, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, Vietnamese, Thai, and Indonesian—and can be accessed via phone and text chat, including from overseas.

To break language barriers in healthcare settings, the Seoul Metropolitan Government launched the “MeSic (Medical-Seoul Interpreter Community)” in May 2025. Applications can be submitted through the Seoul Foreign Portal (global.seoul.go.kr) and the Seoul Family Center (mcfamily.or.kr). Professional medical interpreters provide customized support, including in-person interpretation during hospital visits, in ten languages such as English, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, and Vietnamese.
